The multiculturalism happens when a lot of people of different cultures get together in a specific place, city or country.
The man reason why this happens is immigration that lead to the formation of different social groups.
This may be kept out of society by the population of the country that will use racists attitudes, discrimination and xenophobia, for example. So there is people with different culture habits and rules in the same place, which may taken them to assume different attitudes such as ethnocentrism, cultural relativism and interculturalism.
In the ethnocentrism there are people that watch other cultures always thinking of their own. This kind of people considers its culture as a superior own and wants over rule all the other ones. So to preserve their superior culture the ethnocentric beings to have negative attitudes such as: xenophobia (foreigner hate) and racism (violent actions which the man target are several ethnic groups).
In the cultural relativism all cultures are considered important enough to be protected and each person should live according to his own values, not having any kind of dialogue or contact with any other culture.
In the interculturalism there is respect for all the cultures and equality between them is supported. There is also a dialogue and contact between cultures. This kind of dialogues will allow the enrichment of the cultures.
Nowadays it’s necessary to have shared group moral values such as the human rights and liberty and equality, the respect for different cultures.
